Shopify App Review Miner Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Shopify App Review Miner handles data when users install and use the Chrome extension.

Data the extension processes

The extension may process the following data:

Shopify App Store page URL.
Public review text shown on Shopify App Store pages.
Public review metadata such as rating, date, merchant name, country, usage duration, and developer reply when visible.
User-configured AI API settings, including API key, base URL, and model.
Locally generated exports, collection status, and AI reports.

How data is stored

Shopify App Review Miner stores data in chrome.storage.local on the user's device. This includes the latest collected reviews, collection task status, latest AI report, extraction settings, and user-provided AI API settings.

The extension does not operate a backend server or database controlled by the developer, and it does not upload locally stored review data to a developer server.

AI API usage

Review data is sent to an AI API only when the user explicitly clicks Generate AI Report. The API endpoint is configured by the user in the extension Options page. The default endpoint is OpenAI-compatible, and users may configure another compatible endpoint.

API keys are stored locally in Chrome storage and are used only to call the AI API endpoint configured by the user.

Data sharing

Shopify App Review Miner does not sell user data.

The extension does not use data for advertising and does not track browsing history across unrelated websites.

The extension transfers data only in these cases:

To the user-configured AI API provider when the user requests AI report generation.
To Chrome local storage for local extension functionality.

Permissions

The extension uses the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab: to work with the Shopify App Store tab selected by the user.
storage: to save local settings, reviews, collection status, and reports.
scripting: to inject or verify content script availability on Shopify App Store pages.
sidePanel: to show the extension workflow in Chrome's side panel.
https://apps.shopify.com/*: to collect reviews from Shopify App Store pages.
https://api.openai.com/*: to support the default OpenAI-compatible API endpoint.
Optional API host permissions: requested only when users configure a custom AI API host.

User control

Users can remove locally stored extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing extension storage from Chrome. Users can choose not to configure an AI API key. Without an API key, local review collection and export features can still work, but AI report generation will not run.
